1LT Chris Odom completed his first year-long tour of duty in Iraq returning on September 25, 2006 to Pope AFB/Fort Bragg, NC where he was met by his mom, dad and significant other, Cyndi McDonald (dad not shown, as he was the official family photographer)

While in Iraq, Chris, the most junior officer in his Battalion was assigned leadership of the largest platoon which consisted of 49 soldiers and 20 pieces of over-the-road equipment. His platoon hauled heavy equipment all over Iraq. Chris had the reponsibility of planning and co-ordinating some 200 missions for his platoon. He personally participated in 20 of these missions. His platoon had a 98% success rate of total missions. Before leaving Iraq, Chris received a written review of his leadership performance. His review officer wrote these words in Chris' review...."awesome"..."performance equal to that of a seasoned Captain". In recognition of his outstanding leadership performance, Chris was awarded The Bronze Star
